For the mental health of the Palestinian families in Lebanon
Finnish Psychologists for Social Responsibility (FiPSR) together with The National Institution of Social Care and Vocational Training (NISCVT) or Beit Atfal Assumoud (BAS) since 2.12.1984
The social, cultural and health services provided by the Institution in ten camp centers focus on developing the potential and capabilities of the next generation in order to support Palestinian families in their struggle. The service contribute to the developmental process of the marginalized Palestinian refugee community in Lebanon. For specialised mental health services Institution runs Family Guidance Centers in Beirut, Beddawi and El-Buss.
Project "Mental recovery after the war" (Project number 85201801 of Ministry for Foreign Affairs, project acronym "Recovery") in the South of Lebanon 2008-2010.
The aim of the project is 1) to deliver mental health services for the children and adolescents suffering from the war and violence in South Lebanon (partial financing of the services by FiPSR) 2) to contribute to the development of skills of crisis psychology and trauma psychotherapy 3) to support the well-being of the staff of NISCVT
The direct beneficiaries are the Palestinian and poor Lebanese children and adolescents living in the camps of Bourj el-Shemali, Ein el-Helweh, El-Buss and Rashidieh and surrounding gatherings.
A continuation project application will be prepared together with NISCVT (May 2010).
Sponsorship Program for the Schooling of Special Needs Children "Special needs" We try to get 4-6 sponsors or sponsoring groups (840 euros/year) for children whose families cannot afford the rehabilitation services to the children who are clients in FGC but need further specialised assistance.
Extreme Survival Team -activities and Beirut Marathon 2010 Take care of your well-being, enjoy the exercise - EST-activities continue in Finland and in Lebanon and will end up in Beirut Marathon 5.12.2010, which Finnish EST-activists support financially. In World Village -festival the EST-activity will be presented through the statue of Mini-Marathonist.
We will advocate in just and peaceful solution of the refugee situation, and support our long-term sponsored social workers, promote the Story Crafting and COMICS-activities, assist in Women´s Day Off and Library projects. We test new ideas emerging continuously in the mutual cooperation, e.g. art therapy methods training (photo therapy) for mental health professionals. We cooperate with other Finnish and international NGOs.
